Meeting with dolphin

A 30 minute cognitive session with dolphins is an unforgettable meeting with the Black Sea bottlenose dolphins – especially intellectual, outstanding, curious animals. Exciting and inspiring adventures in the Dolphinarium for all of you! 

Animals cannot be touched during the sessions. Not suitable for people with individual needs.
The service can be provided to two diferent customers or customers groups from 2 to 4 persons at the same time in the different areas of the dolphinarium.

The session takes place in the Dolphinarium of the Lithuanian Sea Museum, Smiltynės St. 3, LT-93100 Klaipėda, beside the acrylic wall of the main pool, not in water.
The service can be provided from Tuesdays to  Sunday – 10.40–11.10 am. Not arranged in July and August.

The price of the session – 200 Eur for one person;  300 Eur for groups of 2–4 people.

Watchers are seated behind  the partition separating the pool and the hall.

Miscellaneous

  • It is recommended to change clothes and foot-wear before a session, as participants may get wet. Participants are not required to wear special clothes or foot-wear.
  • The service can be provided to two diferent customers or customers groups from 2 to 4 persons at the same time in the different areas of the dolphinarium.
  • The payment may be done by bank transfer in advance or buying gift coupon. Also it is possible to pay in cash and/or by payment card in the booking-office of the Lithuanian Sea Museum (during the working hours of the Dolphinarium).
  • The payment is repaid if and when a session is cancelled at the initiative of the Museum.
  • During a session, visitors are acquainted with the animals of the Dolphinarium and its history. They are briefed on the species of dolphins on the whole and the one living in the Dolphinarium, as well as their character, temper and other peculiarities. Trainers explain why dolphins are trained, what is their natural behaviour, how dolphin shows are developed, what is their weight, how high they jump out of the water, how playful they are and how they contact with humans and other animals. Also, their social behaviour, living in groups, behaviour and possibilities of their echolocation system is described. Training devices and principle elements will be demonstrated. The procedure of training of certain show elements will be explained. The procedure of feeding will be demonstrated.

Refund Request

Lithuanian Sea Museum, which consists of Aquarium, Navigation History Exhibitions, Dolphinarium, Baltic Sea Animal Rehabilitation Centre, and Dolphin Assisted Therapy Centre, is situated on the Curonian Spit. To get to us, take a passenger ferry from Old Ferry Terminal or vehicle ferry from New Ferry Terminal (www.keltas.lt), or a private boat to cross the Curonian Lagoon.

We strongly recommend arriving to Smiltynė by passenger ferry from Old Ferry Terminal (Danės Str. 1, Klaipėda) during summer season peak and especially on rainy days. Private boats going from the Dane River to the Dolphinarium is an option, as well.
The distance from the passenger ferry to the Lithuanian Sea Museum is 1,8 kilometre (20 minutes on foot). You can also take a shuttle train (service is charged), which goes according to the ferry timetable. 

To arrive to the Museum by car, take a New Ferry Terminal (Nemuno Str. 8, Klaipėda). The distance from the vehicle ferry to the Museum is 8 kilometres. Note, that New Ferry Terminal is often jammed during summer season peak and all the parking lots are overcrowded in Smiltynė.

Please, be aware, that tickets to a dolphin performance are not refunded or exchanged, so we strongly recommend to estimate the time of arrival. We advise to skip queues and buy tickets online www.ljm.lt having arrived at the Museum. Visitors coming from Neringa resorts should consider the warning, as well.
